WordPress Development Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for WordPress developers and administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

Here is what I have:

I decided to use Wordpress for a blogging project about some products. ALL of our posts need to have the following product fields:

  • Product Name.
  • Product Owner.
  • Product Link.
  • Product Rating.

I'm not familiar with Wordpress but I want these attribute to appear at every post's top. I think there is some kind of plugin (assuming I can't do that without a plugin) to allow me to have these fields in my post. And if there is one, will it limit my theme choices?

I think the simplest way would be to add the data to each post as Custom Fields and use a filter on the_content to output the fields within your post's content.

Sounds like a lot of work! Will I need to add Custom Fields each time I created a post? Or will it be saved? –  iturki Aug 15 '12 at 22:41
previously used keys will show up in a dropdown. you can also add a meta box to make input easier, or there are many plugins to provide an interface for adding post meta data. –  Milo Aug 15 '12 at 23:38
Name a good one please. That's what I'm looking for –  iturki Aug 16 '12 at 0:47

You need to use custom fields. If you don't want to manage them yourself you can use a plugin such as Advanced Custom Fields.
