Flummoxed but social connect doesn't open the "give permission to the site..' dialog when clicking the facebook icon, but instead opens a dialog that says "go to app". I don't want my users to go to the app (there is no app, I created it only for the login feature), I just want the users to be able to login using their fb credentials.

The settings on the plugin page are just the app id and the secret key, both of those are correct, so it isn't that.

I thought there might be some option within the facebook app where you clicked "I want to allow people to log in to my website using Facebook", at least that's what this post says to do, however there is no such option.

This is for my final year project at university and it's due in pronto so I'd really appreciate it if you could help.

I was wondering if it was to do with facebook's open graph, maybe I need to create a login with action? However facebook says "Use this tool to customise the stories that people will generate when they use your app" so it would appear not.

Worked for me also. Were you already logged in when you tried it? Don't be discouraged by the downvote. Re-read your request objectively. You'll get more help if you provide details, describe what you have already done to address the problem, and make sure the issue would be interesting to the broader WordPress community...BTW, site looks good. I can verify that it shows up as "Go to app" for me. But I didn't click through to actually go to the app. I would recommend editing your question to include the actual configuration you're using with Social Connect ... maybe you missed something? – EAMann♦ Apr 24 '12 at 19:14

There seems to be a conflict with another plugin that connects to Facebook. I had the same issue in the past, but I don't remember with which plugin.

Create a Facebook app for each instance needed on your website. Do not use the same API key and secret with multiple plugins. At least, that is how I fixed my issue.

If you only use one Facebook plugin and your key and secret are correct, then there is most likely a conflict with one of your other plugins. Deactivate all of them, then reactive them one at a time until you find which one it is.

Also, make sure Social Connect is updated to the most recent version.

thanks, its not that, I have no other apps. I just don't know what is going on. When I click go to app, it simply goes back to the website and nothing has happened. – Nicola Apr 24 '12 at 20:20

ok, it works with all the other login's though, just not facebook – Nicola Apr 24 '12 at 20:27
