I agree this isn't the best place for this discussion; its a bit too subjective. But if anyone's motivated, compiling a list of available sliders sort of like Ozh did with lightboxes would be a great blog post somewhere. Easily worth the 85000+ pageviews he got out of that list. – goldenapples Mar 11 '12 at 22:01

You may take a look at the just released WooThemes Flexsider

I love Flexslider and have been using it for a while - long before WooThemes bought it. Great functionality, easy to use and integrate with WP. Great recommendation! – Michelle Mar 9 '12 at 16:26
Wow am I glad I didn't answer this question first, looks like you'd be voted down just for participating. Ugh. Sometimes the tight restrictions on what's a good question for WP Answers depresses the hell out of me. Going to go work now instead of looking for questions I can answer... – Michelle Mar 9 '12 at 16:59
Amen. It's almost worth just deleting my answer all together. Try to help a brother out and get slapped around a bit. – The Z Man Mar 9 '12 at 17:04

@Michelle I agree. Down-voting answers simply because one does not like the question seems rather counter-productive, and we should not penalize each other merely for participating/contributing. – Chip Bennett Mar 9 '12 at 17:24

I was not the one who downvoted, but I am not sure it was entirely for participating. Lone link is considered a poor answer since it is meaningless by itself and target resource is not guaranteed to be alive in the future. Please try to include at least summary of information you are linking to. Don't take downvotes too personally - they are just a hint that answer can be improved. – Rarst Mar 9 '12 at 18:52

Consider the Nivo Slider. http://nivo.dev7studios.com/ It's a jQuery slider free to use under the MIT license and simple enough to integrate.
