WordPress Development Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for WordPress developers and administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I am currently setting up a wordpress page and am looking for suitable plugins.

The style of the questions posted in the "top questions" section is actually what I need. Also the voting widget in a question post looks great.

Does anybody know how these plugins are called or where I can download them if not at wordpress.org?

I'd really appreciate an answer!

Are you referring to this website? It might be best to give a quick overview of what you're trying to achieve with wordpress. –  sanchothefat Feb 8 '12 at 10:40
Yes I was refering to this website here. I am making a wordpress based website in which students can post suggestions for the university staff or criticism. The display of the posts should be in this style: wordpress.stackexchange.com It is more appealing than a random forum or a random blog posting style And I really like the voting system of a single post (the one on the left of my question). I tried various voting plugins but I am not satisfied with them. So, I would like to find out what plugins were used to achieve this. –  Marc Jason Knoll Feb 8 '12 at 10:47
The stackexchange sites aren't actually built on wordpress so plugins for this exact look & behaviour might not exist. There may be a plugin for voting posts up & down but things are going to get a bit more complicated than simply running a few plugins to do what you want. –  sanchothefat Feb 8 '12 at 10:58
This site is not run on WordPress and uses no plugins. It is all custom coded. You should rephrase your question. –  Chris_O Feb 8 '12 at 10:58
If people don't need to comment on the individual submissions you could use a comment voting plugin - those definitely exist. You could just create a page and enable comments then let students post them. –  sanchothefat Feb 8 '12 at 11:41

For Rating post you can use Five star Rating plugin Plugin Link :- http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/five-star-rating/

I can't really vouch for these as I've not tried them but these plugins allow for voting on posts.

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/vote-the-post/ - 5 star rating

http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/vote-it-up/ - vote up (and also down if desired)

As for allowing students to submit posts you could try:

You'll need to look at the plugin documentation to learn how to use them but they should get you some way toward your goal.
