I've been trying use the built-in RSS widget with a current blog but every time I refresh the Dashboard after saving the feed information, the widgets disappears from the Dashboard sidebar. I've tried adding two different feeds. I never had this issue with another older blog (3.1 version). Does anyone know what is going on and how it can be fixed? Thanks!

OK, I've found out that if I removed Chinese characters from the feed titles, the RSS widget works. I've also discovered that my blog post headings will also not display Chinese characters, whereas they display just fine in the older blog. This is all very strange. Any ideas?

Seems you need to set WordPress up in Chinese if you want to have Chinese from the start. It looks like a simple fix though.

Hi! Thanks for the link. My blog is in English but a couple of my RSS feeds are in Chinese. I read the page you linked and all the comments; it looks like people were having the same problems I am - sidebar widget titles will not display Chinese characters and the widgets will disappear when Chinese characters are attempted. It also looks like the problem remains unresolved. Does anyone know which field in the database needs to be changed (for collation type)? – evie Jan 3 '12 at 20:13
