I guess I don't remember 3.1 that well. In 3.2 there are boxes beside each image which you can place a number to order the images. Try clicking on the ascending or descending links to see if you see some numbers pop-up. You should have the boxes available for numbering (maybe try a different browser).

thanks for responding. its refreshing. we tested this on all browsers, and platforms. The Ascending/Descending/Clear buttons do nothing.. Nor is the Order # appearing like it does on other sites. – Arturino Oct 14 '11 at 22:21
Maybe you should try going to Dashboard>Updates and choose update, or if you you can't update to the latest version, download 3.1 and drag the files into your FTP client to replace the existing WordPress files. It won't over-ride your wp-content files. Sometimes a re-install fixes things up. One last thing to try would be disabling all plug-ins to see if one is causing a javascript conflict. – Jeremy Jared Oct 14 '11 at 23:36
you were right about the plugin conflict! thanks!! – Arturino Oct 16 '11 at 19:02
You're welcome. I should have put it in the answer. – Jeremy Jared Oct 16 '11 at 19:23
