WordPress Answers is a question and answer site for WordPress developers and administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I have recently installed a new 3.2.1 version of WP and I have come across the wp-docs folder.

It contains some HTML documents about multi-site set-up and licence information etc.

I have turned off directory indexing at the hosting provider, but this file is still directly accessible via the web.

I cannot seem to find any references to it on the web - is this folder a security risk as it stands? Can I delete it safely and is there a reason why site wide non indexing failed for this folder?

Many thanks!

Such folder is not present in normal WP installation. It might be leftover from earlier site setup or you used some non-standard package for install.
