WordPress Answers is a question and answer site for WordPress developers and administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

1st The Problem: I have a Wordpress MU + Buddypress (latest versions) installed and working fine on a domain, let's call it mysites.com.

I have bought recently some more domains like mst.com, 1st.com etc. Now I want to allow users to register and create blogs on these new domains using the mysites.com installation.

Solutions I tried / thought about

  1. So I have downloaded and set up WordPress MU Domain Mapping. But when I type mst.com it redirects me to mysites.com/register page, and I also don't see anywhere an option to let users choose the domain when registering or creating the new blog.

  2. I have also googled and came up with this http://premium.wpmudev.org/project/multi-domains/installation/ but it's paid, and guess it offers the same thing as the first plugin.

So if anybody tried this before, can you point me to the right direction?

Finnaly I bought that plugin (2) and sure it works just fine. After some research I concluded it's what I need. So now I can add new domains for blogging using parked domains - no more IPs or Cname headaches. As fo the Wordpress MU Domain Mapping it's still a choice, as I as a newbie made it work in a way, but maybe not the best choice. – adrian7 Sep 3 '11 at 8:26

There's a whole extensive ebook here as well:

http://wpebooks.com/professional-domain-mapping/

It does include another domain mapping plugin, but the free plugin is supported as well.
