WordPress Development Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for WordPress developers and administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I'm using the following code to display my custom taxonomy as a drop down menu, all works fine except I need it to use the post_name permalink, just now it links to ?cat=2 etc.

I've checked the codex and I can't see any arguments to change this unless I missed it.

<li id="categories">
<h2><?php _e('Posts by Tags'); ?></h2>
<form action="<?php bloginfo('url'); ?>/" method="get">
    $select = wp_dropdown_categories('taxonomy=mediums&show_option_none=Select    tag&show_count=1&orderby=name&echo=0');
    $select = preg_replace("#<select([^>]*)>#", "<select$1 onchange='return this.form.submit()'>", $select);
    echo $select;
