Have you checked your write permissions for the directory? I'm not a unix user but I'm sure a google search of "xampp ubuntu directory permissions" will aid in your quest. – Twifty Oct 15 '13 at 13:51
Do you get prompt to enter FTP/SSH password when installing? What are your current permissions on those directories? – Rarst Oct 15 '13 at 19:51
Current permission is 777 . and when i am installing new theme it asking me for ftp information . – jankipatel Oct 16 '13 at 5:35
Why don't you want to install the theme manually? Otherwise you have to set up FTP on your local Ubuntu. – Max Yudin Oct 16 '13 at 8:00
This is a server configuration/FTP question, not a WordPress question. – Chip Bennett Oct 16 '13 at 12:44
