WordPress Development Stack Exchange is a question and answer site for WordPress developers and administrators. It's 100% free, no registration required.

I am building a store with different brands. I want the flow to go Store > (Brand) > (Gender) > Product. I know I could set each brand as a product category and then create Gender as a subcategory for each brand. That seems a bit much though. Is there a way I can create a custom taxonomy for Gender, create each one (Man, Woman) once, and then link that so it will always show up after brand?

I just think it's too redundant to create Genders for every single Brand category and it seems like there should be a way so you only do it once.

I would create a single "Gender" taxonomy. Then you can use rewrite rules. See: wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/44655/… and wordpress.stackexchange.com/questions/46010/… –  helgatheviking Sep 20 '13 at 23:01
