I have some strange issue:

I have created some menus. All good. Then I wanted to place a menu into a widget. It says No menus created. Click here to create a menu (don't know the exact english text, since I'm using other language).

I checked the menu settings. All menus gone.

But they are still in the DB. And the menu assigned to a themelocation still shows up on frontend.

Even stranger:

get_terms( 'nav_menu' ); // doesn't return anything

wp_get_nav_menus( array('orderby' => 'name') ); // doesn't return anything

wp_get_nav_menus(); // returns the menus`

So if I change

$nav_menus = wp_get_nav_menus( array('orderby' => 'name') );

to

$nav_menus = wp_get_nav_menus();

in wp-includes/nav-menus.php on line 374, the menus show up on the admin menu page, but they are still not accessible on the widgets page (when inserting a "individual menu" widget)

any help appreciated!

EDIT:

  • No Plugins installed

  • switch to default theme didn't help

  • this was the first time that I've set up an apache for myself. But I can't think of any server setting that may cause this strange behaviour
