I am working on converting an HTML template to a WordPress theme. The index.html is as follows:

<!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
<title>Eternal Blossming</title>
<link href="css/style.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" />

<script type="text/javascript" src="js/jquery-1.2.6.min.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="js/superfish.js"></script>
<script type="text/javascript" src="js/jquery.kwicks-1.5.1.pack.js"></script>

<script type="text/javascript">
    $().ready(function() {
        $('ul.sf-menu').superfish({ pathClass:  'current' });
        $('.kwicks').kwicks({
            max : 864,
            spacing : 0
        });

        $(".newsticker-jcarousellite").jCarouselLite({
            vertical: true,
            hoverPause:true,
            visible: 1,
            auto:500,
            speed:1500
        });

    });
</script>

</head>

I cannot figure out how to include the banner in the loop. I have written the loop as follows:

<?php
if ( have_posts() ) :
while ( have_posts() ) :
the_post();
?>
<a href="<?php the_permalink(); ?>"><?php the_title(); ?></a>
<br />
<?php
/* the_content(); */ ?>
<?php if ( is_page) { ?>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="<?php bloginfo('stylesheet_directory'); ?>/style.css" type="text/css" media="screen, projection" />
<!-- <link rel="stylesheet" href="<?php bloginfo('stylesheet_directory'); ?>" type="text/css" media="screen" /> -->
<?php } ?>
<link rel="stylesheet" href="<?php bloginfo( 'stylesheet_url' ); ?>" type="text/css" media="screen, projection" />
<div class="clear"></div>
<div class="banner">
<?php the_content(); ?>
</div>
<?php endwhile;
endif;
?>

But the banner is not showing up.

Please help.

Please reduce the code in your question to essential parts. Thanks. –  kaiser Jul 25 '13 at 8:51

1 Answer 1

Does it show up up in the code on the website on the front end? I mean when you click on the right mouse button and check the code??

if it is there, Did you already copied the css? I think that the problem could be the class=clear, wich you might have been forgotten to copy why the banner is floating between something.

Also I agree with kaiser about shortening your code, there's a lot of code there that is pretty disturbing because we dont need that, it just fills up and makes it harder to understand about what piece of code your talking.

Also, a poiece of your wordpress code or the link to your website may be useful, so we can see whats going wreong there.
