Combining two single instances of WP (3.5), BlogA and BlogB (which includes a WP gallery with every post), into a new blog, NewBlog.
BlogA is a standard WP blog.
BlogB uses a custom post type "gallery" with a WP gallery for each post. The default "post" post type is not used, so only the "gallery" posts need to be exported.
In NewBlog, the BlogB gallery images should be converted to IMG URLs appended to the post content. So, no more galleries, just the original post content followed by all the gallery images embedded as regular in-post images.
Once both blogs are merged, the "gallery" custom post type will be converted to "post" so there will be no custom post types, only one set of posts under the default "post" type.
Do I have to do an SQL export of the WP gallery image attachment URLs from the BlogB database, turn them into IMG links, append them to the "gallery" post content, then export the updated posts from BlogB and import them into NewBlog, or is there an easier way?
