I see from browsing Themeforest that there are many retina ( HD ready ) themes available; and WordPress itself has retina standard icons for the backend too; but what about the content, both future content and archived content?

There are a couple of plugins available which will sort it out for us, but does this mean that a typical WordPress site will need to carry a retina plugin going forward to work out the serving of the 2x images; or is there a plan for this to be included in the core ... or is it already included ... or is this in the realm of themes to server 2x images?

I think this is better to be discussed at make.wordpress.org/ui. I've already seen a couple of plugins having problems with their retina images when running MP6 (basically born from make.wp.ui and already active in WP dot COM). –  brasofilo May 22 '13 at 0:34

I wouldn't feel qualified to discuss it though; I was just looking for a yes or no as to whether a plan exists that I haven't found ... or pointer to a discussion maybe, but I take it from your answer that nothing is solid as of yet ... I will have a look on that website and see if anything exists, thanks. –  byronyasgur May 22 '13 at 0:52

Well, "discuss" is subjective as well. You're raising good points. Drop a message there and see what happens :) –  brasofilo May 22 '13 at 2:36

Thanks ... didn't realise I was being cutting edge ... doing a message there is not really possible for me at this time though ... maybe some other, or maybe someone else wants to take it up, thanks –  byronyasgur May 22 '13 at 2:59
